August is probably my favorite month. Still summer, but not roasting (usually). The garden is coming on full force and I can wander through it every morning, picking fresh veggies to eat (sometimes while I’m standing right in the middle of it all). Warm, golden sun. The smell of ripening fruit in the air. Ahhhh. How I love summer.
And here are my some of the August highlights I’m thankful for:
Harvesting veggies from the garden
Living in the Pacific NW where there are wild blackberries everywhere, free for the picking (if you don’t mind sacrificing a bit of skin and blood in the process)
Family reunion at folks place in Montana (good to see everyone and good to get out of the city for awhile!)
Meeting my newest cutie patootie niece for the first time
My first time trying a paddle board (Okay, it didn’t go so smoothly, but it was still fun!)
The little violets growing in the cracks of my grandma’s patio
Still having a Grandma alive that I can have breakfast with (although she lives far enough away it’s a rare treat)
Massive amounts of bees swirling around my legs as I walk through the mint blooming in my garden
Being part of the awesome coop shoot where my coop (and girls) will be featured in a 2014 calendar! Whoot!
Flycatchers that have sealed the fate of at least a trillion flies out back this summer
Warm enough weather (but not too hot) to sit in the grass and watch the nightly chicken entertainment show. It never gets boring.
Okay, your turn…what are your thankfuls for August?
