CITY GIRL FARMING | Sustainable Living for Regular People

Being Thankful (for July)

07/31/2012

In keeping with the new tradition of a monthly Thankful Post (if you missed the explanation, it’s here)…I present to you my roundup of Thankfuls for July:

Juicy, sweet, crisp watermelon on a hot day.

Flowers from the neighbors yard finding their way over to our side of the fence.

Multi-colored, fresh, backyard eggs.

Potatoes thriving in chicken feed bags.

Playing hide and seek with the chickens as they lay their eggs in non-traditional spots on hot summer days.

The adorable baby bird the kids saved from the dog. He recovered and was accepted back by his parents and placed back in his nest high up in a tree. (Yes, I braved the wobbly ladder to put the poor thing back in his nest and the parents seemed happy to have him back. Whew.)

Long summer days.

FINALLY eating the first ripe tomato out of the front garden (Sorry, no picture…I ate it too fast.)

Color coordinated hens that go with the background. (It’s the artist in me!)

Okay, your turn. What are some of the things you are thankful for in July?

Being Thankful
