It snowed last night. For those of us in the Pacific Northwest, it’s a rare thing. I woke up to a winter wonderland quickly turning to slush, so I high tailed it out to the chicken coop to let the girls in on the snowy fun.
Except they didn’t think snow was fun.
Usually, they rush the door and come flying out when I open it for them. This time, they rushed the door as usual, and screeched to a stop. No amount of coaxing, bribing or otherwise convincing them would change their minds. They weren’t coming out. Not even for chicken candy!
Jessica finally did venture out, sort of…two leaps and into the hay where it was safe and dry. She paced back and forth on the railing, not wanting to dip her toes back into the snow to get back in the coop.
So much for that photo op! What a bunch of chickens!!
